What's New Page:

April 7, 2002:

I survived a year in Taiwan and 2 months travelling in Asia. Now I'm in the states. I can't wait to go back. The life of a world traveller is too decadent.

April 11, 2003:
Another year of ups and downs in Taiwan. A brighter future awaits. SE Asia here I come!

May 29, 2004:

After I left TW  I studied Thai massage in Thailand.  I moved to Austin Texas in December. Unable to find work I am forced back into teaching English abroad. This time: South Korea.

January 28, 2005:

The Best New Years Ever!  Also the most expensive.  I'm playing more guitar these days; trying to save up money and at the same time learn some new songs for St. Patrick's Day.

Notes

Teaching in S.Korea is a lot like TW but there are a few differences I noted:

The students here have more attitude. Whereas in Taiwan they are shy and meek.

Factoring in the airfare, free rent, and bonus pay... I'd say S.Korea is a better deal financially as well.   Unfortunatley, I've found the Koreans to be a bit harder to communicate with... it seems like chinese language was much easier to pick up.

The Korean parents put a lot of pressure on their kids. And the parents don' want us to play games in the classroom. They seem to think that  the kids will just absorp the information right from the book!  They need to learn about quality over quantity!
